Sometimes you may want to restore a backup, but not into the Cloud that the backup was taken from. For example, you may wish to recover a file that someone deleted a few days ago, but your production site has undergone changes in the meantime.
Restoring from a backup will DELETE the data and files in the target Cloud and replace it with the Backup. If you want to keep both versions of the Cloud, back them both up.
-
Decide which Cloud you would like to restore the backup into. You may wish to create a new Cloud for this purpose, even if it's temporary. We'll call this the "Target Cloud".
-
Find the Backup you wish to restore. You can find this on the Backups tab of the Vault page, or the Backups tab of the Cloud Edit page.
- Right-click the Backup or click the Backup's cog icon. Click "Restore Backup Into..." in the drop down menu.
-
A dialog will pop up, where you can choose the name of your Target Cloud (where the backup will be restored to). Once you've selected your Target Cloud, all you have to do is click "Restore Into Cloud" to start the restore process.
-
You will receive a notification when the process is complete (usually a within a minute or two, unless the backup is very large). Notifications are emailed, and they also show up in the Notifications section of the MODX Cloud dashboard.
